Ann Fenech at IMO LEG 110

Ann Fenech attended the Legal Committee 110 of the IMO between the 27th and 31st of March in her capacity as President of the Comite Maritime International. The week was dedicated to a discussion of a variety of important issues effecting the maritime sector including ensuring a fair hearing for seafarers, the impact of the war on Ukraine on shipping and seafarers in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov, MASS, fraudulent registries and fraudulent activity. Dr. Fenech presented an update on the Convention on the international effects of judicial sales of ships and appealed to delegations present to encourage their countries to ratify the Convention as soon as possible after the signing ceremony in Beijing later on this year. This proposal was strongly supported by the United States, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Georgia, Croatia, Spain, Greece, BIMCO and ICS.
