Matthew is an Associate at Fenech & Fenech Advocates, with his main areas of practice being yachting, and ship registration & finance.
Matthew joined Fenech & Fenech Advocates in 2021. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Malta in 2017 after having submitted his Research Paper based on the Restorative Justice Act and its implications. During his time reading for the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) he studied at the University of Southampton pursuant to the Erasmus student exchange programme. In 2018, he qualified as a lawyer with a Master of Advocacy. He was admitted to the bar in 2019.
As a member of the ship registration and finance team Matthew is involved with and assists clients with diverse transactions relating to the registration of vessels under the Malta flag, both Maltese and foreign owned. This includes transactions related to the technical matters during registration, the transfer of the vessel’s ownership and the renewal of registration certificates amongst other matters.
Furthermore, Matthew assists relative parties across numerous transactions in relation to the preparation of the relevant security documentation required for the registration of Maltese statutory mortgages and security interests. This includes the drafting of mortgage narratives, deed of covenants and drafting of corporate review and release of legal opinion.
