Senior Associate

Martina Farrugia joined Fenech & Fenech Advocates in 2018. Martina is a Senior Associate working within the Marine Litigation Department.

Having secured her Bachelor of Laws degree, Martina qualified as a lawyer with a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2015 after having successfully defended her thesis on equality before the law and access to justice for persons with disabilities. Martina was called to the bar in 2016 working in the fields of civil, family and immigration law within her family’s legal practice.

In 2017, Martina went on to obtain a Master’s degree in international maritime law conferred by the IMO International Maritime Law Institute. In 2018 Martina chose to further her studies and successfully completed a Professional Award in Taxation with the Malta Institute of Taxation.

Martina’s areas of focus extend from wet to dry shipping subjects and she is frequently involved in debt recovery matters, the arrests of vessels, the sale and purchase of vessels, collision claims, salvage claims, oil pollution claims, recognition and enforcement of judgments and arbitral awards and dispute resolution in matters concerning seafarers' employment law and personal injury claims.

Martina is a member of the Chamber of Advocates and the Malta Maritime Law Association. She is also the Chairperson of the Public Interest Litigation Network.
