Karen Scerri
Trainee
Karen is a Trainee within the Financial Services and Aviation Departments at Fenech & Fenech Advocates.
Karen joined the firm as an Intern in 2024 following completion of her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree at the University of Malta. During her undergraduate studies, she spent a semester at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland as part of the Erasmus+ exchange programme. Her Bachelor’s thesis focused on Malta’s non-conviction based confiscation regime, comparing it with English law from a human rights perspective.
She has a particular interest in fintech and crypto asset regulation. Following completion of the Master of Advocacy in September 2025, Karen furthered her studies in this area by completing a micro credential course on the Regulation of Crypto Assets under the MiCA framework. In April 2026, she successfully passed the Maltese Bar.
Karen became a Trainee in July 2025 and forms part of the Financial Services and Aviation Departments. Within the Financial Services department, she assists on regulatory authorisations, ongoing compliance obligations, M&A transactions, and proceedings before the Arbiter for Financial Services. Within the Aviation department, she assists with aircraft registration and financing matters.
Prior to joining Fenech & Fenech Advocates, Karen gained two years’ experience at the Malta Financial Services Authority within the Company Service Providers and Trustees’ Authorisation Unit. She also completed an internship with one of Malta’s systemic banks, focusing on compliance and corporate governance.
