Diane Cutajar, a member of our Ship Finance and Ship Registration Departments, has successfully earned an LL.M in International Maritime Law from the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI), following the submission of a Maritime Legislation Drafting Project and a dissertation entitled ‘Wrongful Ship Arrest: A Comprehensive Analysis of Contemporary Practices’. At the graduation ceremony held in late June, Diane was also awarded the REMPEC prize in Marine Environmental Law, recognizing her knowledge and understanding of this critical field.
Ann Fenech, Head of our Marine Litigation Department, was invited by the Institute to present the prize for Best Overall Student in her capacity as President of the Comité Maritime International at the ceremony.
The LL.M program at IMLI provides comprehensive education in both public and private International Maritime Law and the Law of the Sea. It covers a broad spectrum of topics, including shipbuilding, ocean governance, and international dispute resolution, ensuring that graduates possess a deep and well-rounded understanding of the maritime industry. The Institute, established in 1988 under the auspices of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), serves a vital function in training the maritime leaders of tomorrow.
We are extremely proud of Diane’s very well-deserved achievements and wish her a most rewarding and exciting career in maritime law ahead.
