Managing Partner Ann Fenech invited to speak at a Seminar and AGM of the Nautical Institute held in Malta last week.  Dr. Fenech presented a paper on “Automation – a Legal Perspective”  in which she explained the work of the  IWG of the Comite Maritime International  on the  subject.  Her  presentation in Malta coincided with discussions taking place at the Maritime Safety Committee of the IMO in London  which concluded that the IMO is to start the process of amending international conventions to accommodate the emergence of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS).
