Ann Fenech, Head of our Marine Litigation Department, was invited earlier this month by the International Ocean Institute to take part in a panel discussing the geopolitical drivers reshaping ocean governance and legal frameworks, diplomacy and co-operation in maritime affairs. Dr. Fenech focused on the key role which maritime conventions play in today’s challenging environment. She explained how maritime conventions are needed today more than ever before since they seek to find what is common in various jurisdictions and which reduce differences between the legal frameworks in different countries.
