The Commissioner for Revenue has published a set of three Guidelines with respect to the tax treatment of transactions within the blockchain space. The Guidelines provide interpretative guidance to investors and operators alike, covering Income Tax, Transfer Duty and Value Added Tax respectively. These Guidelines were published on the 1st November, 2018, this being the day on which the new Virtual Financial Assets Act came into force.
