The EU Commission has after months of deliberation, today approved Maltese tonnage tax regime, confirming that the current operating structure is in line with EU State aid rules whilst at the same time ensuring a level playing field between Maltese and other European shipping companies. The Maltese tonnage tax regime has for the past 20 years, encouraged numerous quality ship owners to fly an EU flag via Malta. The Maltese flag, which is the largest flag in Europe, is bolstered by a robust legal system which offers reliable solutions to shipowners and financiers alike in a competitive international maritime environment.
