Following a Legal Notice published on the 21st of February 2020 in the Malta Government Gazette, the Merchant Shipping (Shipping Organisations – Private Companies) Regulations have been amended. Legal Notice 31 of 2020 introduces a number of amendments to the said Regulations including provisions relating to keeping and auditing of accounting records and applicable exemptions. It also introduces provisions on the continuation in Malta of foreign companies, the continuation outside Malta of companies incorporated in Malta and also updates the schedule of penalties applicable to shipping companies.
