Fenech and Fenech is probably the oldest law firm in Malta and can be traced back to 1891 when the late Constantino Fenech started his legal practice as a solicitor.
In 1915, the late Dr. Tommaso Fenech graduated and followed his uncle’s footsteps to practice law.
In 1955, the late Dr. Joseph Fenech, obtained his doctorate in law and his warrant to practice at the Maltese Bar. Dr. Joseph Fenech was also one of Malta’s most prominent politicians occupying ministerial posts for Maritime Affairs and Justice, amongst others in a career spanning several decades.
The number of partners increased in 1981 when Dr Mark Fenech, Dr Edward Debono, and Dr Kenneth Grima joined the Firm. The Firm was then joined by Dr Tonio Fenech in 1987, who resigned from the Firm in November 2008.
Dr Ann Fenech joined the Firm as partner in 1992 with a brief to create a Marine Litigation Department and has been serving as Managing Partner of the Firm since 2008 . Dr Rosanne Bonnici joined the Firm in 1998 as tax partner. And in early 2002 Dr. Nicolai Vella Falzon, was appointed partner of the Firm in the Corporate Commercial department.
The Firm saw a rapid expansion in the mid-nineteen eighties in the areas of international law, such as maritime law, ship and asset finance, corporate finance, investments and securities law, corporate law, merges and acquisition as well as international tax planning and the use of Maltese corporate and trust vehicles for the more rational structuring of business and financing activities in international operations; and is now a full-service firm, recognised as a leader in a number of areas including Shipping and Maritime Law, International Trade, Financial Services, TMT Law and Intellectual Property.
