Ann Fenech yesterday addressed the 7th South China Sea Sub-Forum in Hainan organised by the National Institute for South China Sea Studies. Hainan is currently looking into the development of a Freeport Zone and is interested in learning more about the Maltese experience. Hainan is China’s southernmost island province, covering a land area of 35,400 km with 2 million km of sea area under its jurisdiction and China’s largest special economic zone.
Ann Fenech spoke about Malta’s freeport activity in the centre of the Mediterranean.
